How to care for your crown?

Wig maintenance plays a major role in the longevity and maintenance of your unit. Read this article for washing, conditioning, and styling tips!

Washing

1. Prior to shampooing your hair, it is important that you properly detangle it. We suggest using a detangling brush or wide tooth comb to comb out any tangles. Comb hair from the tip to the root.

2. Shampoo hair using a moisturizing shampoo, do not massage shampoo into hair. Wash hair in a downwards motion and rinse thoroughly.

Conditioning

1. We recommend deep conditioning your wig twice a month. This is especially necessary for colored and curly styles.

2. After conditioner/shampoo has been rinsed out of your wig, apply a light oil serum to the strands (if needed), and let the hair air dry.

3. A “condition wash” is suggested once a week, this is a typical wash absent of shampoo and helps restore moisture.

Styling

1. A wax stick and hot comb are necessary when restyling your closure/frontal after washing. This combo will allow you to tame all fly aways and possible shorter strands, while ensuring your lace piece remains flat. If you do not have these at your disposal, please utilize our styling service or refrain from purchasing.

2. Refrain from applying high temperatures of heat to your hair everyday, this can shorten the lifespan of your hair.

3. Styling products that contain alcohol tend to strip hair of moisture, do the best that you can to avoid these.

4. Curls can be defined using water and conditioner in a spray bottle.

5. Avoid excessively oiling your hair as this can lead to product build up and matting.
